Interested graduates (also students of final year) in Physical Sciences stream (B.Sc. or B.E. and above).

Course Overview |
|
Aim:
This course will present a practical look at Space Astronomy from the initial design of an instrument to the planning of a mission to the final exploitation of the science. This is Recommended for anyone working on nanosats to full science missions.
Faculty:
The course will be coordinated by Prof. Jayant Murthy and Prof. Margarita Safonova of Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore.

Syllabus:
The syllabus of the course will be at M.Sc. level and will include introduction to Space Astronomy, history of space flight, elementary space dynamics, design of a space experiment, lunar and interplanetary missions, Astronomy missions and so on.
Classroom Sessions:
The classes will be conducted on Sundays. There will be 12 sessions of 90 minutes each (18 hours), spread over 6 weekends.

Registration and Admission:
- Interested students may register their names by paying the registration fee of Rs. 100/- and collect the application form from the Institute.
- As the number of seats is limited to 30, admissions will be made on first-come-first-served basis.
- Certificates will be issued to the individual students at the end of the course.
- Outstation students are requested to make their own arrangements for accommodation.
How to Apply:
- Students can contact the institute to know about the fee structure of a particular course.
- Interested students can download the application from the internet, fill it and send it by post to the address mentioned below along with a local cheque / DD drawn in favour of "M. P. Birla Institute of Fundamental Research" (payable at Bangalore). Fee structure includes registration and admission fee.
- Interested students may also contact the Director and collect the application forms from the institute (address given below).
- Students can personally pay the prescribed fee (payable by cash / local cheque / DD).
