Ph.D Thesis Title and Abstract:

The Mass Function of Young and Embedded Star Clusters

Our galaxy has nearly 1011 stars and nearly all of them are located in the galactic disc. Within the disc structure, several clusters and associations of stars are found. They are gravitationally bound systems of stars which are born in the same region of space from a single molecular cloud and are often regarded as a basic unit of star formation. Therefore, due to their similar distances, coevality, chemical compositions, luminosities, and stellar masses, the study of star clusters is advantageous. They are studied in different astrophysical contexts such as cluster formation, massive star formation, stellar dynamics, mass function, and mapping the galactic structure. In this thesis, emphasis is placed on studying young and embedded star clusters which are having low galactic latitudes since there exist several current generation star-forming clouds. Specifically, in this study I derive the fundamental parameters, mass function, and dynamical quantities for every chosen star cluster. The results of this study are published in the research papers listed below.
